The False Bay area has a lot to offer and depending on the time of year and prevailing conditions we can always find something enjoyable to do. A normal inshore charter will depart from False Bay Yacht Club in Simon’s Town between 7am and 8am depending on the requests of the group, we then head off toward Cape Point where we have the best chance of finding Cape Yellowtail. If the crayfish season is open we can drop some crayfish nets on south west reefs, if all goes well we can get our quota quickly and move either towards rocky bank, the wrecks or buffels bay to look for some snoek. If the conditions are not ideal for this we can go towards seal island, home of the great white sharks, and target the reef fish that the bay has to offer, these include Kob, Red Roman, Cape Salmon, Hottentot and more.

If you are at seal island at the right time of the day and the right time of the year you can even see the great white sharks breaching as the hunt cape fur seals. Closer to home we can fish in Fishhoek bay, in the summer months the yellowtail shoal in great numbers along the beaches and squid move into Simon’s Bay which can be very entertaining to catch. Other points of interest include the sighting of whales, sun fish, dolphins, various pelagic birds and a breath taking scenery. We normally arrive back at the yacht club between 2pm and 4pm depending on what the day has had to offer, we can then weigh and photograph your catch and clean any of the fish you wish to take home for dinner. |
